In the 60s the ISB the Beatles,
the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and many others drew inspiration
from the ISB's eclectic and original music, and the band played at
the famed Woodstock Festival.
Arguably the ISB were one of the first bands experimenting in 'World
Music'. The current set includes instruments such as the Indian
Israj, African Djembe, Turkish Dumbek and Indian Harmonium alongside
the Banjo, Fiddle, Electric Violin, Acoustic Guitars, Mandolin,
Keyboards, and a variety of Woodwind Instruments as well as the
Human Voice.
Since reforming about 5 years ago founder members Clive Palmer
and Mike Heron have been joined by Welsh keyboard wizard Lawson
Dando and multi-instrumentalist Fluff and have impressed audiences
across the UK and Europe. They certainly did this with the packed
audience at Oake Village Hall, where they performed a selection
of numbers, mainly from the early days of the band.
